History and Representation: Post-1945 Migration Regimes
At this time, the GGG rule (tested-vaccinated-recovered) applies for this event. More about Covid-19 admission regulations
In German with simultaneous English translation

Three panels approach the history of flight and migration in Germany after 1945. In this first part of History and Representation, historians Maria Alexopoulou, Sebastian Conrad and Patrice G. Poutrus trace a history of mobile populations, which for a long time played no role in the national historiographies of West and East Germany.
How did migration history come to be externalized? Which stories of flight and migration were nevertheless promoted? What was claimed as normal and what was seen as an exception to social reality? And since when and via what detours has German migration history finally been written and heard?
