Ear Witnesses: Memories of Non-Places

Are there such things as non-places? If so, what do they sound like? The sound workshop examines interviews from the Archive of Refuge that describe the waystations and transit zones of refugee journeys. Train stations, ships, airports and highways can be non-places. Afterwards, participants compile ideas on how these places might sound or be describable as sound. With recording devices, the students collect sounds in and around HKW, edit the sound tracks and thus create soundscapes and sound collages.
