In a conversation with journalist Verena Lueken, curators Carolin Emcke and Manuela Bojadžijev, together with documentary filmmaker Heidi Specogna and historian Mohammad A. S. Sarhangi provide insights into the development of the project, from the idea to its realization.
Specogna conceived of the film concept for the Archive of Refuge, and Sarhangi was significantly involved in approaching and selecting the protagonists. How was the team formed? How were the interviewees selected? How were the film interviews staged? What difficulties arose throughout the course of the project? And how does the Archive of Refuge differ from other oral history projects?
