The Lobby
D: H. Emigholz, 76 min, English OV
A film like purgatory. Set in Emigholz's latest in-between realm of architecture and narration, The Lobby deals with last things: death and cinema, construction and nihilism, filming and dying, sex and meaninglessness. The cynical soul of the old white man never comes to rest. Waiting for satisfaction, it swaggers through thirteen empty lobbies of melancholic elegance. In vain, it conjures up the mute alter ego of the director and viewer on the other side. At the intersection of the axes of vision, the mirror becomes blank. "There is no here here."
Followed by a Q&A session with Heinz Emigholz, Anselm Franke and Ulrike Lorenz
