Radio art and the public broadcasting services in Germany have always had a productive relationship of tension. Outside the logic of demand and supply, the public radio stations can offer radio artists greater creative freedom. Can these production conditions already be seen as the basis for deriving aesthetic continuities in the field of radio art that could otherwise not have been possible? How much does radio art, in contrast to other art forms, depend on the institution, the broadcasting station? And last but not least, what new formats may the listeners hope for? Walter Filz of Südwestrundfunk will pursue these questions resorting to selected pieces from the listening room.
