Sonic Hagiographies – A Century of Legendary Radio Moments Soundscape
With Anna Bromley and Pit Schultz
Throughout the 20th century, radio has repeatedly played a decisive role in moments of liberation and of suppression, of revolution and persecution. In the case of the Bolshevik Workers Radio, the Portuguese Rádio Renascença in the Carnation Revolution or the so called Hate Radio during the Rwandan Genocide, Radio had a significant function within a concrete historic moment. In other cases, radio is both medium and amplifier for social movements and shifts, such as is the case with the Italian Radio Alice, Radio Home Run or the vast field of pirate radios. Anna Bromley and Pit Schultz explore and present historic legendary radio stations and moments.
