Capitulation
The Anthropocene Project. An Encyclopedia
A one sided declaration of surrender. De facto: giving up, laying weapons down, and admitting defeat. But then the word derives from the French word capituler, “to negotiate a treaty,” perhaps that is the potential what separates humankind from stone? Let us recapitulate; let us turn to repeating and summing up essential parts or chapters. What has gone wrong until now, and what was good? It is clear that we need new perception filters and new values to find our orientation in the Anthropocene. A spirit of discovery, new beginnings. For a paradigm shift, capitulation is also the first step. Capitulate, recapitulate. Think in other dimensions. Not as a song of sacrifice but as the concession of absence.
