Frenetic Homeland
Art, Literature, Music
Home as a stable retreat? It seems to belong to a long-gone past. And although the artists in Frenetic Homeland interdisciplinary program come from such different cities as Jakarta, Osaka and Beijing, they have much in common: Their societies are changing – very rapidly. Frenetic Homeland brings together an exhibition, literature and music. China’s diversified process of change is the focus of literary and discursive events.
The program brings together visual arts, literature and music: Tadashi Kawamata and Qiu Zhijie present their installations. Contemporary writers such as Yang Lian and Yu Hua, who are featured guests of the Frankfurt Book Fair, are invited to Berlin. The music program combines Aronas's punk-jazz, Goodnight Electric's synthpop, and the garage rock of The 50 Kaitenz.
Frenetic Homeland combines internal and external perspectives, spaces of visuality, sounds and words.
This yeries of events is part of the Asia-Pacific Weeks 2009. The Asia-Pacific Weeks are made possible by the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin (DKLB).
