"For about four years I’ve constantly been reading things that I wish I’d known when I was twenty. For example, I think my relationships, my friendships too, would have been fundamentally different if ...”
(Hanna Engelmeier in a conversation with Kathrin Passig)

What books may have been helpful at a certain point in time if only we had discovered them earlier? What writings created or reinforced what fallacies? What works were formative? And which works do we wish had shaped us? Based loosely on the discussions that the magazine n+1 held in 2007 and 2011 under the titles What We Should Have Known and No Regrets, the evening gathers five writers for a conversation about their own reading biographies, about key moments in dealing with written works and the transformative power of literature – should it exist.
