Documentary about the British folk icon from the 1960s and ’70s.

The musician Shirley Collins, born in 1935, stood at the center of the folk revival in the 1960s and ’70s. Along with her sister she interpreted English folk songs dating as far back as the Middle Ages until a disorder of the vocal chords forced her into early retirement in the 1980s. But at the age of 80 she found her voice again. Using many original recordings, Tim Plester and Rob Curry have created a portrait of an artist whose longing tones and heartfelt performances were able to breathe new life into traditional songs.

German premiere followed by a Q&A.
