Brazil is a young nation. Although population growth has slowed in recent years, nearly one fourth of the 200 million Brazilians are under 15 years of age and the average age is 30. The new protest movement arose within this age group: a new generation of well-educated, politically interested and critical individuals. How do young Brazilians live, think and feel? What do they expect from the future? And how do the film directors of this generation view their world? What conflicts trouble them? Under what production conditions do they work? Are they united by any specific filmic language?
