Andrea dreams of a white wedding, Kamila is anxious about her “first time,” Eliane wishes her 14-years- younger boyfriend would finally grow up. They all have one thing in common with thousands of Brazilian women: their partners are prison inmates. Joana Nin’s sympathetic documentary tells the stories of seven women whose love overcomes prison walls. She follows them as they prepare for their weekly visits and, in-between devotedly hand-decorated stationery and security checks, offers us unexpectedly intimate insights into the closed-off universe of love under the conditions of the penal system.
