Unsettling Utopia: Southern Brazil

A project by Maria Thereza Alves, with contributions by Wilma Lukatsch and Noara Quintana and Erik Petschelies

An integral part of the process of decolonization is the search for other models of representation and historiography. Taking The Children Have to Hear Another Story – Alanis Obomsawin as a point of departure, artist Maria Thereza Alves invited writer Wilma Lukatsch and artist Noara Quintana, and anthropologist Erik Petschelies to reflect on the politics of colonialism in Brazil and question how to unsettle its pervasive nature in the fabric of everyday life.
