On the aesthetics of duration: central to the work is Tehching Hsieh’s famed "One Year Performance 1981 – 1982," where he spent a full year in New York without ever once entering a building. The talk arrives at a notion of lived duration – rather than the shattering moment – as a paradigmatic temporality of performance according to Heathfield’s premise. Adrian Heathfield is a Professor of Performance and Visual Culture at Roehampton University, London.
