The Iranian singer is a star in her homeland and on the New York art scene. With the Madman of God she explores the vibrations of Iranian Sufi-singing.

Iranian singer, composer and performer Sussan Deyhim has worked with musicians and composers such as Peter Gabriel, Bill Laswell, Buckethead and Bobby McFerrin. For more than 20 years now, she has been living in New York where - as in her first cultural home, Iran - she has become a star on the experimental music and art scene. On her latest CD, "Madman of God", she takes up Iran’s Sufi tradition, translating Sufi song into love songs with an artistic and popular quality. ‘I have a very personal relationship to this music. I try to create very special vibrations, because I believe that these vibrations enable the Sufis to travel through time, into a different dimension that transcends all familiar criteria.’

The almost spiritual dimension of her music links Sussan Deyhim with Liu Sola, the Chinese composer, singer and concert curator. The two women will be appearing as special guests in one another’s concerts.
