Marcus Gammel (Deutschlandfunk Kultur):
Radio: an Art of Sound—the title of Rudolf Arnheim's clairvoyant book on radio is two-fold. He demands an art for listening as well as a listening that is an art in and of itself. This is where Arnheim meets Frantz Fanon in his thoughts: in his essay The Voice of Algeria, the pioneer of post-colonialism describes the independent, creative radio listening of the Algerian population. Both Fanon and Arnheim inspired the radio program Every Time A Ear di Soun by documenta 14 and Deutschlandfunk Kultur. 8 partner stations worldwide, 50 artists and 700,000 listeners spent 160 days researching the art and politics of listening. One year later, it's time to look both back and ahead.
