Projeto Coisa Fina convida Flavio Tris
The saxophonist Daniel Nogueira and his 13-piece ensemble play a brilliant tribute to the eclectic oeuvre of the Brazilian composer and multi-instrumentalist Moacir Santos.
With the death of the composer and multi-instrumentalist Moacir Santos in 2006 at the age of 80, Brazil lost one of its most important musicians – although his recognition as such had been a long time in coming. His oeuvre, rediscovered only shortly before his death, included soundtracks and albums, four on the US label Blue Note alone. Captivated by the complexity and inventiveness of Santos’ music, saxophonist Daniel Nogueira founded the 13-member Projeto Coisa Fina with the express plan to bring the music of the master back to the stage. For Wassermusik, the band has expanded its program, taking up titles by other figures in Brazil’s musical pantheon, such as Sergio Ricardo, Chico Buarque and Marcos Valle.
