Installation/Performance
Thomas Lehmen (Germany)
Invitation (2007)
Thu, Jun 12–Sat, Jun 21, 2008
and at the Opening on 11.6. from 18-22 h
Thomas Lehmen invites visitors to the ‘studio’ that he has set up in the Foyer of the House of World Cultures to think about what they would like to communicate to other people. Sofas, desks and a stack of material have been made available so that visitors can produce their own works or inspire others to produce something too.
In this way, a constantly growing installation will evolve during the course of the festival. Lehman’s art is conceptual. It consists in creating relationships and in making the principles and control circuits that underly the system of art into part of the work itself. In Schreibstück, for instance, he invited three choreographers to perform a script that he had composed. ‘Thomas Lehmen’, RealTime magazine writes, ‘is one of the most innovative and progressive dance artists of the past few years.’
