The princess of Bossa reaches for her father’s crown. The daughter of Bossa Nova founder João Gilberto was nominated for two Latin Grammys for her first solo album in 2000 and for the World Music Grammy for her next work. At the age of seven, Bebel Gilberto recorded with her mother Miúcha Platten; at nine, she stood with her father and Stan Getz on the stage of Carnegie Hall. Born in New York, she spent her youth in Rio’s Ipanema – Princess Gilberto combines the best of two worlds: the depth of electro, lounge, and beats, and the inspiring lightness of the Bossa Nova.
