Admiral Tanjung

Admiral Tanjung

was born in 1960 in Talang, West Sumatra. Following his schooling, he began studying at the art academy STSI Padangpanjang in 1982, and has since taught there as a lecturer. Already at the age of ten, Admiral Tanjung was involved in a broad range of traditional local ensembles. In the 1990s, he began to participate in a large number of cultural missions as an artist, travelling primarily to Europe. His works are predominantly influenced by music for theatre productions. Admiral Tanjung has achieved great success in the realm of local pop music as well. His works have been influenced by various forms of West Sumatran folk music, the essential elements of which he continues to combine in new ways.
