Christoph Menke
Christoph Menke is a professor of practical philosophy at the Cluster of Excellence: Normative Orders and the Institute of Philosophy at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main. The focus of his work is political philosophy, philosophy of law, aesthetics, and the theory of subjectivity. After completing his studies in philosophy, German philology, and the history of art, he taught at the New School for Social Research, New York, from 1997 to 1999; and at the University of Potsdam from 1999 to 2009. He is a member of the editorial board of the journals Constellations: An International Journal of Critical and Democratic Theory, Philosophy & Social Criticism, and Polar: Politik, Theorie, Alltag. His publications include The Sovereignty of Art (1988/1999), Reflections of Equality (2000/2006), Philosophie der Menschenrechte (2007), Force. A Fundamental Concept of Aesthetic Anthropology (2008/2012), and most recently Autonomie und Befreiung (2018).
