Kelly Gillespie

Kelly Gillespie ist Senior Lecturer am anthropologischen Institut der University of the Western Cape, Kapstadt. Sie gründete und leitete den Johannesburg Workshop in Theory and Criticism, ein Projekt zur Theorie des Südens am Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research, Johannesburg. Ihre Arbeit konzentriert sich auf die Themen Strafjustiz sowie Rechts- und politische Anthropologie, die Geschichte Südafrikas, Rassifizierung und Sexualität. 2017 publizierte sie den Aufsatz Anthropology before the Commission: Ethnography as Public Testimony in If Truth Be Told. Demnächst erscheint ihr Buch Idle Acts: Criminality and the Dialectics of Punishment in Post-Apartheid in dem sie zeigt wie in der südafrikanischen Strafjustiz unversöhnte Reste des Apartheids-Regimes fortwirken.
