Overseas + Mekong Hotel

The final days of WASSERMUSIK are to be held under the banner of the fourth Asian Film Festival Berlin. The featured films are productions that take a critical perspective on the much-extolled new potential for economic, political, and cultural developments between the countries ringing the Pacific. With a focus on Asia, America, Thailand, and Vietnam, the selected films tell unusual stories of migration, love, everyday struggle, empowerment, and the search for meaning.

Portrait of a hotel on the Mekong River in northeastern Thailand. Here, is working with his team on a film called “.” In a blend of fact and fiction, the film explores the bond between a vampire-like mother and her daughter and the relationship of a pair of lovers to the river. Filmed at the time of the catastrophic flooding in Thailand, takes on multilayered themes of destruction, politics, and dreams of the future.
