Speaking to the World or Speaking of the World?

Navid Kermani’s new novel “Dein Name“ (“Your Name”) provides the framework for the discussion: what is the relationship between the impressions, activities, stories, memories, worries and desires of which a human life is composed, between all the various narrative threads that run through each individual day, hour or minute? Is there any relationship between them? Or have these narrative threads accidentally got entangled, and is our life simply an endlessly tangled knot?
