Two boys live with their sick grandmother in a hut deep in the mountains far away from the town. Early in the morning they work in the fields; later they walk to the road to sell fruit to the people who drive past. They use their meagre earnings to buy medicine for their grandmother. The road is their link to the world – it also determines their life.

It won’t happen to her – no way! Until, one day, she gets the hots for Adam. He, on the other hand, doesn’t even notice her, and so Jenny is obliged to watch him from afar. But then one evening she sees something she isn’t supposed to and, all at once, everything changes …

Farah, a teenager from the USA, is a bit wilder than Nilou, who was brought up in Iran. The pair heads for a lonely hill to spend some time alone listening to music. Their differences begin to make themselves apparent when Farah tries to explain that girls should be less hirsute.

‘Wapawekka’ is the Cree word for ‘white beach’. It also refers to a remote lake in northern Saskatchewan where a father and son are out canoeing. Josh, a young hip hop musician, would much rather be doing something else but he has been forced to accompany his father on this trip to a lonesome hut. As their trip progresses, the generational conflict between the hip young man and his traditional father becomes increasingly apparent. At first their clash is verbal, but it later turns into a drama.

A schoolboy finds himself addicted to a computer game in which he acts as a bodyguard to a superstar. Not only is the singer gorgeous to look at, she is also exposed to all kinds of deadly dangers. And the only one who can save her is her clever bodyguard. The schoolboy’s homework soon suffers on account of his digital exploits and before long he begins to lose his grip on reality. But then a girl in his class decides to intervene.

Isabell Šubas’ film follows a young Venezuelan girl’s preparations to be celebrated as a ‘princess’ on her fifteenth birthday. However, in a country with the highest incidence of cosmetic surgery and ‘Miss Universe’ winners, hers is a rocky road indeed. CHICA XX MUJER is the result of a trip through Central and South America undertaken by students of the HFF in Potsdam-Babelsberg to celebrate the centenary of the Mexican Revolution.

The story of a raid on a bottle shop, told from different points of view. During the attack, the salesperson, a Sikh immigrant from India and father of two, is tragically killed. This film reconstructs a real crime that was committed in South Auckland in 2008.
