A new kind of sister city: the project BLNRB-NRBLN, initiated by the Teichmann brothers and the Goethe-Institut Nairobi, allows "club music from the capital cities of Berlin and Nairobi to crash into each other and meld together." (Groove magazine).

For over a year, musicians from Berlin and Nairobi have been recording tracks together, now they are finally releasing their new album and premiering it live at WORLDTRONICS.

Gebrüder Teichmann
These overactive Minimal Techno producers and label managers initiated the project BLNRB. In their sets, they bounce off each other like two brothers playing musical ping-pong matches. Music crazy as they are, they formed their first band when they were only nine and twelve years of age: ”Totalschaden“ (“Write-Off”).

Modeselektor
This hyperactive duo forced the music critics to come up with new terminology: Bastard Dancehall, Euro Crunk, Acid Rap, Big Bass Techno, Happy Metal, Psychedelic Electro. laut.de has this to say about Modeselektor, who are named after a function of the “Roland RE-201 Space Echo Analog Delay Unit“: “Live, the are a force to be reckoned with.“

Jahcoozi
This multinational, Berlin-based trio performs a balancing act of “musical perfection and dadaistic nonchalance“, according to laut.de, somewhere between Dubstep, Grime and grand Rave-Gala. It’s no accident that their fans include Stereo MCs.

Ukoo Flani
Twelve MCs form the core of this HipHop collective, which enjoys a high profile in East Africa and has its roots in the slums of Mombasa and Nairobi. All told, it has about a hundred members and also runs a HipHop academy.

Just a Band
They play “the most-modern style claviature with a wink” (Groove). Just a Band produced the first Kenyan House record from their living room in 2008. Having already achieved success as cartoon artists and photographers, now they are also producing convincing music somewhere between Air dreams and French Filterhouse“.

Michel Ongaro
The blind multi-instrumentalist and singer combines various styles to produce a blend of Kenyan Benga, Soukous and Afro-Dub-Jazz.

Mr. Abbas & Necessary Noize
Abbas Kubaff is one of the pioneers of HipHop in Kenya, an East African celebrity. He raps intelligently and ironically in Sheng, the quickly mutating youth code slang that mixes Swahili with English. The MC’s entourage includes Necessary Noize, which combines HipHop with Dancehall and Reggae.

Radi
The six percussionists in this ensemble playfully sample the diversity of Kenyan rhythms. It is no accident that they travel around with their drums in the most diverse musical constellations.
