A poor suburb of São Paulo, a little house and a “perfectly normal“ family: Valter works, Lara does the housework, daughter and son go to school. But then there’s a fight next-door. The woman moves out and takes revenge on her ex-husband by renting out rooms in the house to people who soon terrorize the whole neighborhood with wild, loud parties. A previously distant world of violence and drug gangs approaches dangerously close to the apparent peace and tranquillity of the neighborhood and the local disputes begin to escalate…
“Os Inquilinos“ won the prize for the best screenplay and the best supporting actress at Festival do Rio 2009.
