Reading
Azouz Begag (France) presents texts and songs from "Coeur de banlieue" (t: Heart of the suburbs)
Fri, Sep 17, 2010
12 noon
In French and German language
From “Guerre des boutons” in “Le gone du Chaâba” (Engl. “Shantytown Kid”) to “Guerre des moutons” (t: War of the Mutton), from the conflicts of pimpled youth to fights over sheep that are supposedly slaughtered in the bathtubs of French Muslims: what an unparalleled ascent! As the child of an immigrant family living in the shacks of shanty-towns on the outskirts of Lyon, Azouz Begag rose to become Minister for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities in Paris. The cultural crossover will perform a literary and musical programme with readings, chansons and lots of humour!
