Juri Andruchowytsch's novel "Perverzija" is about the disappearance of a Ukrainian in Venice. The celebrated – and controversial – classic of contemporary Ukrainian literature narrates his grotesque carnival story with a baroque delight in wordplay, and examines the themes of national identity and Ukraine's relationship to Europe.
