Sixteen years in one night: HKW presents an eleven-hour film production that has been compared by critics to the works of Edgar Reitz and Marcel Proust. The film tells of the life of a Pilipino family and their struggle for survival during the Marcos era. During the intervals, the programme will be rounded out by talks with the director, Lav Diaz, as well as by massages and culinary specialties.

An epic insight into the trials and tribulations of a Filipino family both during and after the regime of Ferdinand Marcos. The central character of the film is Reynaldo, an orphan boy who was abandoned in a dump and was found and raised by Gilda, an insane woman. As the film develops, themes of guilt, blame and misfortune feature heavily in this dramatic tale.

Talks, accompanied by massage and culinary treats, fill the intermissions over the course of the eleven-hour film evening.
