Set in 1965 during the peak of the atrocities of General Suharto’s purges "A Poet" focuses on the lives of the inflicted minority group in Aceh, Sumatra. The narrative of the film features the eminent Didong poet Ibrahim Kadir playing himself as the central character along with a cast of actual survivors from 1965.

Within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Weeks, which are supported by the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin (DKLB).
