Manthia Diawara, Malian documentary filmmaker, author, film historian and director of the Institute of African-American Affairs at New York University, analyzes the range of aesthetic and political ideas about African cinema.
According to his thesis, African cinema has experienced significant changes since the 1990s. As an historian and director, Diawara has been researching African cinema and its development for 30 years.
