Based on the experiences of a theatrical performance with psychiatric patients in Sao Paulo, Peter Pál Pelbart investigates how "insanity" – previously “mental illness was the object of the psychiatric gaze – developed performative and theatrical powers. Palbert teaches philosophy and clinical psychology at the Catholic University of Sao Paulo and has worked for 15 years as a therapist at a psychiatric outpatient clinic.
