Guided tour
Sunday guided tour
Hannes Langbein, Berlin
‘If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.' (1 Corinthians 3, 18f.)
Ever since the Apostle Paul preached that the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God and that the wisdom of God is foolishness with the world, saints and fools, the elect and outsiders all look surprisingly similar. Each of the artists represented in the exhibition rational/irrational has trodden this narrow path after his or her own fashion. Following in their trail, participants in the Sunday guided tour will find themselves walking a theological tightrope.
A guided tour with a theological perspective: since he completed his theology studies in 2007, Hannes Langbein has been working as scientific adviser at the office of the Cultural Representative of the Evangelische Kirche in Deutschland (EKD) in Berlin. He is currently doing his doctorate at the Institut für Bildwissenschaften Rostock on the subject of ’Visibility and Likeness – The Visible Human Being as the Image of God.
