Firkat al Bahrain

During the 1960s, an entire music culture evolved around the search for precious pearls, the dangers of the deep, and the quick money to be made there. The music, known as Fidjiri, can still be heard at every festival in Bahrain: the mighty drum and the clay pitchers used for percussion, the clapping hands accentuating the beats, and the vocals improvising as they narrate the words. Apparently, good singers used to earn more than the best divers. Firkat al Bahrain celebrate a masterful Fidjiri party at WATER MUSIC. And it goes without saying that Hamid Baroudi will be appearing alongside them too.
