Durian Durian

Skin that has peeled off from showering too often with clients in the brothel. Chan contrasts the existence of a young prostitute in Hong Kong with her life after she returns to the far poorer Chinese mainland. A film that captures a society oscillating between overheating and stagnating.

Fruit Chan (*1959) lives in Hong Kong. Durian Durian won the Hong Kong Film Award, among others, for the best script in 2002.
