Mudbound, Hillary Jordan’s 2008 novel set in the Mississippi Delta after the end of World War II, was a literary sensation. Less than a decade later, it was adapted by director Dee Rees as a feature film that was then nominated for an Oscar. Its success came as no surprise. Its focus on historical trauma, rural class struggles and structural racism offers historical analysis while allowing for contemporary interpretations. After a reading followed by a Q&A, the author herself will introduce the film.

With Hillary Jordan & Eva Meckbach, moderated by Sarj Lynch
