Archival Assembly
In film history, archival work explores not only what once was, but also what might be. Archival Assembly #1 presents archival films and film archives beyond classification criteria such as nation, genre or era. Several premieres of digitally restored versions explore encounters between different cultures and generations: Töchter zweier Welten by Serap Berrakkarasu is about a relationship between mother and daughter. Mein Leben Teil 2 by Angelika Levi is the story of emigration presenting a biographical archive. In miniatures, Prater by Ulrike Ottinger tells the history of the Viennese amusement park from its beginnings until today. With more films by Sara Gómez, Sarah Maldoror, Mohanad Yaqubi and others. In addition to the film program in HKW’s Westgarten, there will be film screenings, restoration and project presentations, two symposia and an exhibition on archival work as artistic, social and political practice at Kino Arsenal, silent green Kulturquartier, Sinema Transtopia and SAVVY Contemporary.
With Luciano Castillo, Cecilia Cenciarelli, Angelika Levi, Mohanad Yaqubi and others
