Re-Imagining Copyright

What would copyright look like if it were entirely redesigned? Which control and utilization models would be created in the interest of the arts and the public that at the same time suit the state of today’s technologies? Would we retain the principles of the current system or throw it overboard completely? And what does it actually mean to ask these questions? Intellectual property rights have been controversial for as long as they’ve existed. Digitization has multiplied the issues under debate, but also the possibilities of trying out new infrastructures for cultural production. How can protection and remuneration as well as widespread accessibility best be reconciled?
