Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin – New cinema and contemporary art
Foyer, Roof Terrace, Lecture Hall
From experimental films to video works to multimedia performances: The festival presents international film works by well-known artists and young talents in world and German premieres.
Filmmaker Ulrike Ottinger is given carte blanche to present the film Mr. Freedom (1969) by William Klein in correspondence with her current exhibition at HKW. Dora García’s film essay Segunda Vez reconstructs happenings by the psychoanalyst Oscar Masotta, who was forced into exile in 1976 by the military coup in Argentina. Laure Prouvost discovers a dystopian biological laboratory in her work Shed a Light. More films will be presented by Dietmar Brehm, Jasmina Cibic, Sebastian Díaz Morales, Salomé Lamas, Natacha Nisic and others.
In artist talks and workshops, artists, audience and experts will discuss what cross-border cinematic approaches can be discovered today.
