Biopic with Sam Riley in the role of the Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.

The biography of a brief, intense life: In his feature film debut, Anton Corbijn, who got to know the band Joy Division as a photographer, tells of the demons that eventually drove their singer Ian Curtis to suicide. Sam Riley convincingly lends the charismatic depressive his narrow frame—the fragility of the musician, who suffered from epilepsy, is physically palpable in the work, illustrated with impressive black-and-white tableaus. The film score is provided by his remaining colleagues from New Order.
