Sissako, Beyond Territories

Valérie Osouf is a documentary filmmaker and scriptwriter. She studied drama and Journalism in Dakar, and script writing and analysis in Paris, where she wrote a feature script on intimate racism, Marie et Djibril. In 2008 she co-wrote and co-directed Cameroon, Autopsy of an Independence, a historical documentary about political and military repression by the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon (UPC) from 1955 until 1971. In 2010, Osouf co-founded the successful production company Granit films. Her first feature-length documentary, L’Identité Nationale (2012) is a reflection on State xenophobia in France. The short documentary film, Je te le rappelle, Tu t’en souviens (2014) is about collective memory and intimate history. The TV version of her portrait of the filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako, Beyond Territories (2017) was aired on Arte.
