A multifaceted portrait of the Calypso Queen

The grande dame of calypso: for fifty years now, Calypso Rose has held her own in this man’s world. Filmmaker Pascale Obolo accompanied her to Trinidad and Tobago, studio sessions in Paris, her chosen home New York, and on a journey to the coast of Benin, from where her great-grandmother was once abducted and brought to the Caribbean as a slave. Along these stations, a multi-layered, intimate portrait of the singer and her artistic path, her humanitarian efforts and her sources of inspiration emerges.
