Director Mário Patrocínio – known for his film about Complexo do Alemão, one of the toughest favelas in Rio – depicts theyoung, urban movement that has long since transcended Angola’s borders: including its innovative founders, the crafty superstars of the scene and the pop-culture references in its fashion and dance moves, from Jean-Claude Van Damme to Kwanzaa.
