In Portugal he is considered the legitimate successor to heroes like João Peste and Variações, yet he has a sound all his own. His albums and EPs are almost entirely self-recorded

The music of Bernardo Fachada is subtle, delicate and many-layered, yet it finds its way directly into one’s heart. The Portuguese singer-songwriter, born in 1984, names the arrival of import records from Brazil as an influential early experience. Artists like Toquinho, Paralamas do Sucesso and Léo Jaime, along with Nina Simone, Tom Waits and Gentle Giant, opened the ears of the nine-year-old to another world. In Portugal today, Fachada is considered the legitimate successor to such heroes as João Peste and Variações. His pearl-like songs, full of genuineness and encyclopedic knowledge, breathe a tone of their very own – indeed, his albums and EPs are almost entirely self-recorded. Consequently, he is in demand as a songwriter and producer, and has been invited to share the stage with Sérgio Godinho, Pedro Abrunhosa and Vitorino.
