In her lecture performance, the musician (JaKönigJa) and literary scholar Ebba Durstewitz takes us to the world of the well-behaved, Beethoven-worshiping educated class – a world only allegedly threatened with extinction.
In a line of reasoning at once amusing and provocative, this learned woman of music and letters shows how the composer’s third symphony, “Eroica,” became a fetish of an isolationist, self-aggrandizing flight from reality that prefers to canonize music as culture rather than art.
