Suchitra Balasubrahmanyan
Suchitra Balasubrahmanyan is Professor at the School of Design, Ambedkar University, Delhi in India. Her research interests center on nineteenth- and twentieth-century craft and design from the Indian subcontinent from historical and sociological perspectives, as well as the evolution of modern design education in India against the backdrop of decolonization and Cold War diplomacy. She is author or co-author of numerous publications including The Shaping of Modern Gujarat: Plurality, Hindutva and Beyond (2005) and Ahmedabad: From Royal City to Megacity (2011). Her most recent publication Craft and Design in the Hindu Way of Life is forthcoming. She is a research advisor for bauhaus imaginista’s Moving Away section.
