Lionel Bently

Lionel Bently is Herchel Smith Professor of Intellectual Property at the University of Cambridge, Co-director of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law (CIPIL) in the Faculty of Law, and a Professorial Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He is a door tenant at the barristers chambers11 South Square, Gray’s Inn in London, and author of several standard works on intellectual property. With Professor Martin Kretschmer, he co-manages the website CopyrightHistory.org, the digital archive of primary sources on copyright from 1450 to 1900.
