Judith Farquhar

Judith Farquhar is Max Palevsky Professor Emerita in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Chicago. Her research has focused on the social and epistemological situation of traditional Chinese medicine in contemporary China. She has collaborated with scholars in Beijing to perform ethnographies of life nurturance on the streets and of ethnic medical development in minority nationality areas. One recent book is A Way of Life: Things, Thought, and Action in Chinese Medicine (2020).
