Volkhard Knigge

Volkhard Knigge is a historian and history didactician with psychoanalytic training. He was professor of history in the media and the public sphere at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and director of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation. He shaped the development of remembrance culture in Germany. He most recently published Jenseits der Erinnerung – Verbrechensgeschichte begreifen (2022), an anthology on the critical confrontation with national socialism.
